Everyone should check out the tv show Chuck. You might have heard of it, maybe you've seen some crazy-obsessive fans around various places, but I assure you, any negative associations you have with this show should be wiped away! It's amazing. The obsessive fans are not just crazy, there is a reason. It's one of the best television series' on tv today--and I'm saying that as a highly particular tv-watcher, a skeptic by nature, and someone who was dead-set on thinking it was stupid before I actually popped in the first disc of season one. But it won me over and I'm never turning back! The quality and character development, comedy, music, cinematography and especially the acting are just SUPERB in this action/adventure/comedy. It's hilarious, truly entertaining, surprisingly surprising, the characters will capture you immediately and the music is the best EVER (I've discovered some of my favorite bands on Chuck, ex. Frightened Rabbit)! The acting is amazing, and no matter what you're general impressions are, whether you think it looks stupid, cliche, bland, cheesy--or just aren't interested (I was all of these and more when I was forced to watch it and it changed my mind within fifteen minutes!): JUST GIVE IT A CHANCE.

Last years, millions of fans campaigned to bring Chuck back for a third season after it had been canceled due to NBC's latest problems with ratings and money. And this third season, brought back to life by shear fan-devotion, has been UNBELIEVABLE. But the viewings are still dangerously low, Chuck just doesn't get that much attention despite how very much it deserves it--please, please, please people. Watch this show. Give it a shot from season one, watch the Pilot and let Chuck into your life. At least give him a chance.

Check out some Chuck-osity here on the official website:

Or visit this fan site to read up on things, news, get pictures, links, interviews, etc to figure out what Chuck's all about:

Or, watch this pretty cool video on YouTube that goes over the things that make Chuck awesome (although I must say, Chuck is about a million times better in person than even this video can show--especially the comedy/action aspects):

OR BEST OF ALLL! JUST START WATCHING CHUCK! Give it a try, just for five minutes, watch the Pilot and see if it interests you even the tiniest smidgeon, and if so...watch it, share it, buy it, help Chuck live on!!

Okay, so it's been ages since I've written anything or submitted or anything or done anything at all remotely interesting on here. Anywayyy, I got some weird computer virus that left me computerless for a month, but I'm back now and I'm feeling the creative juices a-flowin' so hopefully I'll have some inspiration soon. I hadn't really thought about how much writing I have done (and trust me, at least 98% of it is NOT on here, I keep most of it to myself) until the prospect of having lost it all came. That month waiting to see of my computer could be fixed...wow, I almost gave up on technology altogether. If I'd lost all those endless Word documents, I think a piece of my soul would have died inside. =P But, it's all fine and safe anyway so, no harm done. Lesson learned: backup hard drive! Learn from my near-soul-loss experience my friends!

Wow, God did something spectacular in my life today. Tonight actually. Somehow I've been feeling like I'm drifting, the things I've fought since 11 years old have been seeping around, under my skin, into the places of my heart that I can't afford to lose. And I've been, I don't know, complacent in it, but likewise losing something vital to my being. Somehow I felt the urgency not to lose today, how many days has it been? But not today. Something just woke up and I wrote it out after a long dry-spell (my poetry isn't art to me, it's something I have to do, things I have to say and the only way I can find to say them) and didn't really think it would mean anything, but I'm not the one who makes those decisions. It meant something. And it was answered. In "As the Day Begins to End" I asked like I have a hundred times to lose myself, be shook up, woken up, pulled from complacency--the place I've been hiding in order to not have to face my fears, doubts, and the things that have always caused me more pain than I've ever wanted to bear. I was swept off my feet tonight by things I can't explain, felt like I haven't felt in so many years. It felt something like coming home after so many years, and I guess this is something like a prayer.

I'm so bad with keeping up with these journal things but I thought, since I don't really have anything decent to say about my life anyway--why ramble on about things no body cares about? =P

So instead, I'll keep up with the tradition of my last journal entry and throw out a little spotlight to something I believe in. I've been involved in a Make-A-Wish club on my high school campus for three years now and I'd just love to throw this out there and hope that at least a few people read this and think about getting involved or, at the very least, throw a few prayers out there for the kids involved in the program

In case you're not familiar with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, they're a US-based non-profit group that raises money to grant children with terminal diseases a "wish"--something special just for them and their family to make their lives just that much more complete in the time they have. It's such an awesome cause even if it may seem like there are worse things out there--feeding the hungry is absolutely a worthy cause and helping far-away countries is something that definitely needs support, but I know, even I sometimes forget that we've got stuff happening right here in our own backyards too! And children are so helpless and innocent--to see them suffering so much at such a young age is heart-breaking. The chance to put a smile on a little boy or girl's face is amazing and I know in the years I've helped out with my school friend's to grant wishes of sick kids in my own neighborhood have been incredibly amazing--we've been able to give sick kids the chance to experience something amazing in their lives when they might not ever get a chance to have the life that every little kid dreams of. There are tons of fun and easy ways to get involved, be it joining a local club, looking up local restaurants or businesses that are supporting Make-A-Wish and treating your family to a something special while also helping out a great cause, or just spreading the love. If there isn't a branch or club in your area--start one! There's tons of info on how you can do any of these things on their national home site, and from there you can even navigate to a special website of a Make-A-Wish branch near you!

In the wake of all sorts of terrible things happening worldwide, it's easy to forget the suffering that goes on right in our own neighborhoods with children that might never get a chance to grow up and live a normal life-- just thought I'd bring up a local cause that deserves a little spotlight! :)

Hey guys, I recently got involved in this year's big Invisible Children project: The Rescue and I'm so stoked! I was wondering if anyone out there is going to be doing this too? I really hope so! If you don't know about Invisible Children or The Rescue you should definately check it out!

In case you're like me and can sometimes be too lazy to click links, I don't want you to miss out on this, so here:

Invisible Children:
Invisible Children is an awesome organization founded by a couple of young guys who went to Africa on what they thought was going to be a fun vacation with the intent of having a good time and making some movies and instead ended up uncovering one of the world's most horrific on-going wars: a war that's been happening in Uganda for over 23 years and is now spreading to other parts of Africa. After many years of instability and contest between the Northern and the Southern areas of Uganda, an insurrection called "The Lord's Resistance Army" or LRA began to rebel against the government of Uganda, trying to overthrow the president. A man named Joseph Kony quickly rose to power and began the horrible chain of unthinkable deeds that has lead to a generation of young African children that are now being called the "Invisible Children". Stolen from their homes in the night by soldiers, brutally beaten and forced to watch horrific mutilations and killings of the ones they love, they are--right now--being forced to become child soldiers for the rebel army, living a day-to-day life of unimaginable terror, blood, violence and killing. So far the estimated number of these child soldiers, ranging anywhere in age from 5 or 6 to young adults is in the thousands and growing every day. Beyond that millions of children and adults alike have been displaced from their homes and towns to flee the wrath of the LRA. The worst part: no one is doing anything to stop them. That's what the Invisible Children organization is trying to change which leads us to the second topic--"The Rescue".

The Rescue:
Deciding that, despite their age and inexperience and seemingly lack of influence, they had to do something about this unseen horror, these three guys began the Invisible Children organization which has spread across the United States and is now going global to spread awareness and help people just like you and me rally their individual governments to stop pretending that these things don't exist and end the suffering of these innocent people by the LRA. For the past few years IC has been doing national rallies in big cities across the globe to bring people from every walk of life together to let people know what's going on through on huge, country-wide "abduction".

Basically volunteers from all over the US "abduct" themselves to meet with thousands of others and walk for miles like the displaced victims of the war to a meeting place where they spend the night beneath the stars like a million Ugandan children trying to escape abduction. The point? Wouldn't you ask questions if you saw thousands of men, women, children and teenagers walking through your street with sleeping bags slung over their shoulder? That's the point--we may not be able to fly to Africa and stop Kony himself, but we can walk to let the people who can know what needs to happen. That's where the other part comes in: we as kids and young people (an adults too) might not have much real influence in global problems from where we are, but by an act as simple as writing a letter to a local congressman, movie star, influential figure, whatever--we can actually do something. Millions of letters have gone out across the years and the United States government was moved to intervene a few years ago and has been searching for a way to end the violence and rescue these child soldiers through peace talks with the Rebels. But it's not that easy and it's definitely far, far from over. Just as the people in government are constantly changing and moving about--so we need to be constantly regrouping in order to make sure that the current heads of our cities, states and countries, are not ignorant to these horrible things happening in our world. The Rescue is this year's IC event, and it's gone global. Millions of people across the globe are signing up to abduct themselves and free the abducted by camping out with their friends, family, youth groups, sports teams, and a million other people for one night on April 25th and making signs, movies, posters, letters etc. to spread awareness and let our world leaders know that we're a generation who's not going to let these people be invisible in their time of need. If you want to be a part of this epic event, please, let everyone you know about it and sign yourselves up. There's going to be a live announcement on March 25th by the IC organization leaders to let everyone know how this event is going to go down, what to bring, and where to meet in your nearest city location to take part in The Rescue. Not only will it be fun and worth while, but it'll be history in the making. Seriously.

Get more info, check out some amazing and life-altering videos and most of all SIGN-UP FOR THE RESCUE right here: Invisible Children: The Rescue

Invisible Children is more than just a one-time event organization though! If you can't make it to The Rescue or just aren't ready to do something like that yet--you can still get involved. As a non-profit organization they take donations and sell DVD packets, jewelry, t-shirts, other apparel all to raise money for the situation in Uganda. The donations go towards building schools and providing education and basic necessities for the children of Uganda and help rebuild the millions of lives that have been torn apart by the LRA rebels.
